Wake Up!

The last week has been unpleasant and revelatory. Aside from the failed attempts at bombing the London underground (and a bus), we have had the following stories about Islamists:

UK Gay Leaders Receive Death Threats From Islamists

Change Foreign Policy or Else - Muslim Leaders

1/4 of UK Muslims Support Bombing

Islamic UN Members Disrupt Condemnation of Suicide Bombing

Terrorism is the Path to Liberation

This is only a small sampling of articles. One of the most distressing things to watch over the last several years is the left pretending that jihadists are not the enemy - that somehow, no matter what their stated goals, the jihadists are simply reacting to poverty and injustice. America, capitalism, globalization and - never leave this one out! - Israel are the constant villains.

After nearly four years of reading MEMRI, Jihad Watch, Little Green Footballs and a plethora of other sources, the only conclusion remaining is that that view is insane. The only safe thing to do is to believe your enemy when he tells you his intentions.

The jihadists mean to kill us because we are not muslims. End of discussion. Every single aspect of Western civilization offends them beyond bearing. Free women, supporting themselves and living as they please, outrage them. Gay men and women - let's not even discuss transgendered persons - living openly are so repugnant to hard-line Islamists that they must die. Our whole way of life is simply unacceptable. They mean to kill us, or make us conform to the Koran's prescriptions. Making excuses for jihadists makes no sense.

When Little Green Footballs linked to the article about threats made against gay, lesbian, transgendered and bi-sexual people in England, poster Zombie wrote:

HOORAY!

(What, zombie, have you gone mad?) No, and I'll explain why.

I think that the looming fight between Muslims and gays will finally be the wedge that destroys the Left/Islam alliance. Why? Because gay culture is the "cutting edge" trendsetting culture that sets the tone for the rest of the "progressive" movement. If gay guys think something's hip, then eventually everyone will think it's hip.

Conversely, if it becomes de rigueur in the gay community to hold a certain political opinion, then that opinion will rapidly trickle down to the rest of the leftosphere.

For the LLLs to finally get a Cluebat and wake up to the reality that they are aiding and abetting their sworn enemies (religious fundamentalist conservatives -- i.e. observant muslims), it will first be necessary for someone cooler that themselves to say it's OK to hate Islam. And gay culture is the apex of cool. So what needs to happen is for gays to see how Islam is their worst enemy. And that has started to happen.

The first crack was when a trendy gay magazine editor from New York went to Amsterdam and was the victim of a gay-bashing assault by Muslim street toughs. He came back to NY with astounding tales of horror. People were shocked. Next came the lesbian who confronted the Islamic Thinkers Society in Queens, who screamed homophobic remarks at her. (They also show up to protest gay parades.)

Now these threats against gays in England. Finally, the Muslim extremists are showing their true colors. And the gays can't ignore it! Soon gay opinion will turn against Islam, then like sheep the rest of the leftosphere will follow suit. Then, finally, the democratic West will finally be unified against its acknowledged common enemy.

That's why I cheered at this news. A bit twisted, I know, but that's how I see it.

Anything is better than having to spend another day with the Queers for Palestine.

My fear remains that American gays, particularly radicals, will simply cry, "It's no different than the Christian fundamentalists!" and continue merrily on the way to suicide.

When people show up at the San Francisco Gay Pride Parade with signs reading, "God hates fags", there's a certain uncomfortable sense of recognition - a portion of a reasonable person's mind murmurs, "They have a point..."

Except that these so-scary fundies are threatening gays with hell in the afterlife, not with death in the here-and-now. It's distasteful, but it's not a threat. And let's be absolutely clear: these are the exception, and they are nuts. Most of the "fundamentalists" - very broadly defined, since most people fling the term around with little discrimination, and really don't know what they mean - do not share any such viewpoint. Most people will say, "Hate the sin, love the sinner." We are all sinners - that is basic Christian doctrine. Most Christians, even those who subscribe to the thought that homosexuality is a sin, would no more commit an act of violence against a gay person than they would presume to act violently against a young woman arriving at the altar clearly pregnant.

Americans in general - whether comfortable with gays or not - react with immediate condemnation, calls to the police and mental health authorities, to calls for violence against any group. I try to imagine the reaction in the church I attended as a kid if the minister suddenly began demanding the death of unbelievers. First, the minister would never do that. Second, if he did, the congregation would be on their cell-phones to the police and the nice men in white coats before he'd finished speaking. We sit on our neighbors if they begin raving this way, and we notify the police. Americans are "live and let live" people.

Hitler told the world what he would do. Lenin did not disguise his intentions. All the monsters and fanatics tell us, quite clearly, exactly what they intend to do. The jihadists told us, and continue to tell us, precisely what their intentions and plans are. All we have to do is listen, and believe it.

Do not succumb, people, to moral equivalence, to denial, to blaming America, capitalism, globalization, and Israel. Do not listen to your irrational guilt and self-loathing.

Wake up!
